The ring bearer pillow is a staple of most traditional wedding ceremonies. In order to make your ring really shine when it goes down the aisle, try making this beautiful ring bearer pillow for your own wedding or as a personalized gift for the bride and groom. Because the pillow is so small, it requires less material so you can really go all out with a pricier fabric, if desired.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Determine the desired size of your ring bearer pillow. A good size is typically 8” by 8”.

  2. Step 2

Choose your desired fabric, along with any decorative trim you would like to add to your pillow.

  3. Step 3

Fold your fabric in half, print side in.

  4. Step 4

Cut your fabric to size, leaving about 1 ½” extra material in all directions.

  5. Step 5

Use a sewing machine to sew a simple stitch along two parallel sides out from the fold of your fabric.

  6. Step 6

Fold your fabric over along the bottom of your pillow to create a hem and then pin shut.

  7. Step 7

    Turn your fabric right-side-out.

  8. Step 8

Pin any desired trim pieces along the sides of your ring bearer pillow.

  9. Step 9

Sew the trim to the hem, using the pins as a guide.

  10. Step 10

    Stuff your pillow with batting.

  11. Step 11

Sew your pillow closed by hand or by machine.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose a fabric that will fit your wedding color scheme. Opt for a more elegant fabric, like a satin or silk over a cotton fabric.
  • To make the ring sit easier on the pillow, consider tufting the center of your pillow with a button. For this effect, thread a needle with desired thread and pierce a hole through the center of your pillow, starting at the underside of the pillow. Once you have made it through to the top of your pillow, thread your needle through your decorative button shank and pierce a second hole in the center from the top to the underside. From the underside, pull your thread tightly to pull the button down into place and create a tuft. Close your stitch with a knot.
