How to Make a Glow Stick Halloween Costume

Glow sticks can be used for way more than lighting the night sky. Incorporate them into a fun and inexpensive Halloween costume that enhances individuality as well as safety.

Things You'll Need

• Glow sticks
• Sweatshirt (preferably black)
• Sweatpants (preferably black)
• Fabric glue
• Needle and thread
• Plastic or paper plain face mask
• Chalk

Instructions

1. 

   A glow stick Halloween costume shows both your creativity and your attentiveness to safety. It's far more fun and creative to make a Halloween costume than to purchase one. After all, how many of the same old superheroes do you see each year in your neighborhood? Adding glow sticks to this creativity enhances safety, as they help light the way for little trick-or-treaters.

   For this particular costume, keep it simple and design a skeleton. Using black sweat pants and a black sweat shirt or long sleeved black T-shirt, mark the fabric with a piece of chalk to determine where the skeleton's bones should go.

   Using the yellow-green type glow stick, glue one or more sticks on each chalk mark depicting a bone. Allow the glue to dry thoroughly.

   A few simple stitches should be made on the two ends of each glow stick for extra security.

5. 

   A plain face mask can be outlined in glow sticks to create the shape of a head. A pillow case with eyes and breathing holes cut can serve the same purpose, and will also complete the costume when adorned with glow sticks.

Tips & Warnings

• Children must be advise never to put glow sticks in their mouth. If they break open too quickly, wash hands immediately after coming in contact with the glow stick liquid.
