Place ice on the melted plastic. If it's a big gob of plastic the ice will cause it to shrink up and pull away from the surface a little. Then take your razor blade and carefully scrape it off the surface. Clean up what's left with Soft Scrub with bleach.

Burn it off. If there is just a little bit of melted plastic, you can turn your burner on and when the plastic begins to melt, take a wet rag and wipe it off. Then follow up with the Soft Scrub with bleach and a warm rag. Never do this when there is a lot of melted plastic on the stove, it can catch fire.

Spray on oven cleaner. Scrape off as much as you can with the razor blade. If the residue is really stubborn, just spray with some oven cleaner and turn your burner on. Let it get hot. Turn it off and let it cool and it will wipe right off. This works for all kinds of stuck on mess and stains.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure you use a new, sharp razor blade. Old ones could have nicks in them and end up scratching your surface.

  • Use a plastic type scrubbing sponge when your surface is almost cool and then a wet rag. The scrubbing sponge seems to grab the residue up better than just a wet rag.

  • Take care using a razor blade. Hold it down as flat to the surface as you can and don't push to hard. Move slowly in case it gets caught on something and your hand slips and you get cut.

  • Use care when heating up oven cleaner, the fumes are not good for you. Keep children and pets outside while you heating it and turn you oven fan on to ventilate the room. Wear a painters mask if your very sensitive to fumes.
