How to Make Easy Homemade Air Fresheners

It's great to use air fresheners to keep the air smelling pleasant, but commercial air fresheners are expensive and the odor can sometimes be overwhelming. Put your hard earned pennies in the piggy bank and make some easy, inexpensive and effective air fresheners. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 7 drops lemon essential oil or tangerine essential oil
  • 16 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 3 drops eucalyptus oil
  • 1/4 cup distilled water
  • Spray bottle
  • 1/8 cup ammonia
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. vinegar
  • Airtight container
  • 8 cups warm water
  • Spray bottles
  • 30 drops essential oil of your choice
  • 1 1/2 oz. distilled water
  • 1 1/2 oz. vodka

Instructions

  1. Disinfectant Room Spray

      Put 7 drops of lemon or tangerine essential oil in a spray bottle.

      Add 16 drops of lavender essential oil, 3 drops of eucalyptus oil and 1/4 cup of distilled water.

      Shake the bottle well and spray into the air as needed.

    Baking Soda Air Freshener

      Place 1/8 cup of ammonia, 1/2 cup of baking soda, 1 tbsp. of lemon juice and 1 tsp. of vinegar in an airtight container.

      Add 8 cups of warm water and put the cap tightly on the container.

      Shake the container to mix the ingredients.

      Pour the baking soda air freshener into spray bottles and use it to mist the air as needed.

    Aromatherapy Air Freshener

      Place 30 drops of essential oil of your choice in a spray bottle.

      Add 1 1/2 oz of distilled water and 1 1/2 oz of vodka, and shake to mix.

      Use the aromatherapy air freshener as needed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Homemade air fresheners work best in a bottle with a fine mist setting.
