Instructions

    • 1

Choose 2 pieces of fleece. They can either be the same or different, but coordinating colors and/or patterns.

    • 2

Lay 1 piece of fleece on a solid surface with the wrong side up. Lay the other piece wrong side down on top of the first. With the wrong sides facing each other, line up the fleece so all the edges match up.

    • 3

Cut off the selvage edge. This will help the 2 pieces of fleece become identical so the fringe is edge. Do the same to the top and bottom if needed. You should only take off about an inch or 2.

    • 4

Cut a square out of each corner that is 4 inches by 4 inches. If you want longer fringe, try doing a 5 inch by 5 inch corner instead.

    • 5

Run a piece of masking tape straight across on each side of the blanket to match up the new notches made from cutting out the square. This will help you know how deep to cut the fringe. This is an optional step, but it will help keep the fringe straight and the blanket will come together more quickly. You only need to put the tape on the top piece of fleece.

    • 6

Cut 1 inch wide fringe on both pieces of fleece at the same time. The depth of the fringe is the same as the depth of the square (either 4 or 5 inches).

    • 7

Using the overhand knot, tie the fringe on the top and bottom pieces together. Tie ever other fringe all the way around and then flip it over to tie the rest. This just helps make the blanket look a little more uniform. The overhand knot is simply making a loop and pushing the end through. Make sure the fringe knot is will secured.

    • 8

Wash and dry the new blanket and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings

  • 1 1/2 yards of fabric is enough for a good sized baby blanket or throw. Experiment with different sizes for different people.
