How to Cook Stewed Chicken And Rice
Stewed chicken and rice is a homey, filling comfort food fit for any time of the year. Making the dish is straightforward and easy to follow, and can be prepared quickly. Things You'll Need
- 3 cups cooked rice
- 12 chicken pieces
- 1/2 cup sliced onion
- 3/4 cups chopped green bell pepper
- 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 3 cloves minced garlic
- 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup water
- Salt and pepper

Rinse chicken parts in water and pat dry with paper towels.

Heat the oil over medium fire in a pot or large skillet. Brown the chicken pieces on all sides.

Add the bell pepper and onions and cook until onions are translucent.

Sprinkle the flour into the skillet and coat the chicken and vegetables. Allow the chicken to brown for five minutes.

Add the garlic, salt and pepper.

Add the chicken broth and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer. Cover the pot and allow the chicken to stew for about 30 minutes, or until the chicken is thoroughly cooked.
