Photo backdrops add an element of color and whimsy to photos taken at the wedding reception. Any reception is enhanced by a photo station for guests to have their picture taken. Photo backdrops are available in many patterns or you may create your own backdrop. You can also use an instant camera as well as a traditional camera so guests may receive one copy of the photo right away.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cameras
  • Backdrops
  • Fabric to create unique backdrops
  • Paint or colored markers to decorate the backdrop
  • Painting supplies
  1. Step 1

Set a whimsical, romantic tone to photos for the guests with a photo backdrop of a large heart. The heart pattern will be wider than couple standing in front of it. The heart may be red, pink or any color you want to use to match the theme of your wedding. The backdrop makes a dramatic photo that sets a tone of romance.

  2. Step 2

Use calligraphy lettering to create a photo backdrop that is unique and sends a message about your wedding. You may want to use one single word or a phrase. The lettering should be placed at the top of the backdrop so it is above the person in the photo. Some words you may want to use are love, joy, or the names of the bride and groom. You may also want to simply list the date of the wedding.

  3. Step 3

Honor your heritage by using a picture of a setting from the homeland of your ancestors. You may want to use a family photo to create a unique photo backdrop. You could add words in the language of your heritage as well.

  4. Step 4

Use a single color backdrop for dramatic photos. You may want to use a bright color that matches the theme of your wedding. For a more formal backdrop use a cloth in the color black. You may have different colored backdrops so the guests may choose one that will complement their outfit.

  5. Step 5

Use a photo station that will bring joy to your guests. Photos document your wedding day and also give the guests an instant memento of the occasion. Encourage everyone to visit the photo station so you have a picture of everyone who attended the wedding.

Tips & Warnings
  • Mention the photo station to friends and family before the wedding so they know it will be part of the reception.
  • Have a friend who circulates the wedding reception encouraging guests to have their photo taken.
  • Put up a board next to the photo station that shows the pictures that have been taken for guests to view.
  • Stick to your budget when creating the photo station.
  • Be creative in finding fabrics to use for the backdrop.
  • Check thrift shops and flea markets for good deals on fabric.
