Instructions

    • 1

Measure the width of the sofa and cut the cloth so that its width equals twice the width of the sofa and length equals half of the sofa's length. Be careful while choosing the cloth. It is not a good idea to go for one that completely contrasts with the color of the sofa. Choose a lighter shade. For example, if your sofa is dark blue, choose a sky-blue cloth for the cover.

    • 2

Cut the cloth into halves and sew them together with a sewing machine. The 1-inch extension comes in handy here as you will be able to put on the cover to the sofa easily and take off the same without difficulty.

    • 3

Design your cover in such a way that it looks attractive and decent. For example, cut the hanging portion of the cover to make a curvy pattern or such that it makes a U shape. Stitch the end of the cover so that the threads don't come out, giving it a frayed look.

    • 4

Decorate the cover with beautiful embroidery patterns. A floral pattern gives a pleasant look. If you find embroidering difficult, make use of ready-made patches you can stitch to the cover easily. Other creative ways include using non-washable glitter gels to create the patterns.

Tips & Warnings

  • The method mentioned in Step 4 would help you create a sofa cover that resembles a shirt without sleeves. However, you can adopt a different style and leave the ends unstitched. In that case, the width of the cloth must equal the width of the sofa. The advantage of choosing this method is that it is very easy to wash this kind of cover.
