Instructions

Make, or buy invitations, for your make-over party. You can buy plain, solid colored blank cards from the craft store and decorate them with lipstick kisses, stickers or fancy lettering. Mail your invitations 2 weeks before the event and ask the girls to bring their own beauty box, so they can share their favorite beauty finds with friends.

    • 2

Inspect each girl's hair for lice as she arrives. Ideally, girls shouldn't be sharing brushes or styling products but, the fact is, they do share them and it's better to be safe than sorry. Any girl with lice or nits should not be participating in a hair make-over and should be treated immediately, since infestations are highly contagious. This needs to be done discreetly so as not to embarrass the girl.

    • 3

Snap a few "before" pictures as the guests arrive. Have a digital camera handy and take pictures throughout the entire event. Respect a girl's requests tnot to share her green-face-cleansing-mask photos with friends, and be sure to have the girls pose for "after" pictures, too.

    • 4

Begin the make-over party by having the girls clean their faces and hands, remove all ornaments from their hair and remove nail polish from their fingers and toes.

    • 5

Consider inviting a representative from Mary Kay, Avon or another home party demonstration company that offers skin care classes to teach the girls proper techniques for cleansing, exfoliating, toning and moisturizing. You could also hire a girl fresh from the makeup counter at the mall to help with makeup application and to teach the girls how to use brushes and applicators.

    • 6

Apply nail polish, allowing plenty of time for it to dry before the end of the party. Girls with wet nails shouldn't be styling hair or eating because it will smudge. Watch a movie during the make-over party. This will make it easier for the girls to sit still while their toes and fingernails dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Have hair make-over magazines and pictures of celebrities or fashion models available so the girls can try the latest styles on each other.

  • Make sure the girls are using the disposable applicators and makeup tools if they plan to share makeup. Explain that bacteria can cause pimples. No girl wants pimples.
