Shower curtains are an easy way to spruce up your bathroom. Sometimes you have a specific decorating idea in mind, but just can’t find the right shower curtain to accent it. There is a solution! Although shower curtains come in an array of colors and designs, they can also be very easy to make on your own. By using your old shower curtain as a model, you can design your new one. You can use all of your existing hardware, and have a new shower curtain up in no time!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Measure the dimensions of your old shower curtain, and purchase a comparable amount of material with some additional for seams.

  2. Step 2

Using your old shower curtain as a guide, cut out the new curtain leaving an additional two inches on all sides and an additional five inches on the top.

  3. Step 3

Iron all of the seams flat; this will ensure a nice edge.

  4. Step 4

Sew along the seams to secure them, using a complimentary colored thread. This can either be done by hand or with a sewing machine

  5. Step 5

Measure the distance of all the holes on your old curtain, and use this as a pattern for your new shower curtain.

  6. Step 6

Poke holes in your new shower curtain, using a punch.

  7. Step 7

Attach your new shower curtain to the previous hardware and hang your new shower curtain.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure to add a plastic liner in addition to your new shower curtain to prevent mildew.
  • Sheets also work well for making shower curtains. Just pick a sheet with the pattern of your choice, and follow the same steps.
