After preparing the chickpeas, you can add them to a variety of dishes such as salads, soups and stews. You can also blend chickpeas, tahini, fresh garlic, olive oil and lemon juice to create a healthy and satiating hummus dip to enjoy with pita bread or vegetables. Instructions

      Pour the dried chickpeas into a bowl and pick through them to remove any debris or small stones. Place the chickpeas into a colander and rinse them under cool, running water.

      Transfer the chickpeas to a heavy saucepan. Pour 3 cups of water per 1 cup of beans into the pan and stir to blend.

      Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Boil the chickpeas for two minutes and remove the pan from the heat.

      Cover the saucepan with a lid and allow the chickpeas to rest for 1 to 2 hours, or until they are soft.

      Drain the soaked chickpeas in a colander over a sink and add them to your favorite recipe.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't soak the chickpeas for longer than two hours as it may cause them to ferment.
