Color matters.com states that Color conveys meanings in two primary ways - natural associations and psychological symbolism. No, it’s not mind control. The truth of the matter is that people are comfortable when colors remind them of similar things. For example, a soft shade of blue triggers associations with the sky and a psychological sense of calm.

I would like to introduce you to a way to paint your kids room and enhance their mood with color.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Blue lowers your blood pressure and has a calming effect and of all the colors in the spectrum, blue is an appetite suppressant. Weight loss plans suggest putting your food on a blue plate. Or even better than that, put a blue light in your refrigerator and watch your munchies disappear.

If you have a child that is a bit hyper or overweight paint your kids room a light blue.

  2. Step 2

One of the most interesting examples of color effects is Baker-Miller Pink . Also known as :drunk tank pink," this color is used to calm violent prisoners in jails.

Dr. Alexander Schauss, Ph.D., director of the American Institute for Biosocial Research in Tacoma Washington, was the first to report the suppression of angry, antagonistic, and anxiety ridden behavior among prisoners:"Even if a person tries to be angry or aggressive in the presence of pink, he can't. The heart muscles can’t race fast enough. It’s a tranquilizing color that saps your energy. Even the color-blind are tranquilized by pink rooms."

Baker Miller Pink is a pink that's similar to the "bubble gum pink" or "watermelon pink"
    An approximate RGB formula is:

    R:255
    G:145
    B:175

    HEX: FF91AF

If you have a child dealing with anger or anxiety you can paint your kids room "bubble gum pink" to enhance their mood and offer them a space that is calming.

  3. Step 3

There are a wide variety of mood altering colors that you can use to paint your kids room. for example:

Red conveys: strength, power, confidence, passion. and increases appetite. **** This color is great for your teenager's room because they are sometimes difficult to get motivated. ( I say this by experience)

Shades of Gray conveys: Seriousness, dependability and stability.

    Yellow conveys: Youth, joy, imagination

There are many more colors so please take the time to visit the link in the resource section or do some research on your own.

  4. Step 4

The color white represents purity but it can also make the space seems larger and impersonal. If you are going to use white to paint your child's room try adding some warm accents such as pillows, throw rugs or curtains to off set the white and add warmth.

  5. Step 5

Just remember that if you are going to paint your child's room with a color that will enhance your child's mood you must use this color throughout the bedroom. The bedding, accents and decor should agree with the paint color that you have chosen.
