Scarecrows are not just for scaring away crows anymore. You can dress them up in formal attire to welcome guests to a holiday party or for special occasions.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Gloves
  • Casual Dresses
  • Children's T-shirts
  • Cocktail Dresses
  • Sunglasses
  • Tiaras
  • Tuxedo Jackets
  • Brooms
  • Earrings
  • 1-by-1-inch Piece Of Lumber
  • Rubber Bands
  • Saws
  • Common Nails
  • Small Hammers

Step1
Stand the broom on end, with the bristles pointing up.
Step2
Measure 6 inches down the handle from where it joins with the broom head.
Step3
Nail a 4-foot piece of 1-by-1-inch lumber across the broom handle at the measured point. This will be the arms of your scarecrow.
Step4
Dress the scarecrow in a long-sleeved shirt, T-shirt or dress. No stuffing is necessary, since this is your basic casual scarecrow.
Step5
Attach gloves to the ends of the arms with rubber bands.
Step6
Place a pair of groovy sunglasses on the broom head by poking the stems of the frames into the broom bristles. The broom head will act as head and hair in one.
Step7
Stand the scarecrow up by sticking the broom handle into the ground.

Tips & Warnings

  • Dress up your scarecrow according to the occasion. Put a tuxedo jacket on him for a formal affair, or dress her up in a cocktail dress, long gloves, earrings and a tiara.
