If wax spills onto your couch or chair, you can remove it with these simple steps.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Let wax dry.

  2. Step 2

    Scrape away as much wax as possible with a blunt knife.

  3. Step 3

    Place a sheet of butcher paper, glossy side down, or a portion of brown paper bag on top of the wax.

  4. Step 4

    Press the tip of warm iron gently over the affected area until the wax melts and attaches to the paper.

  5. Step 5

    Lift the paper from the upholstery as it cools.

  6. Step 6

    Dab a small amount of denatured alcohol on the stain if any wax dye remains on the upholstery.

  7. Step 7

    Sponge with water.

on 11/18/2006 I can't believe how well this actually worked. Spilled a hot candle on our new couch, about 1.5 oz. of wax all over the place. The upholstery looks just like the day we bought it after using this method. You could knock me over with a feather... I thought the couch was ruined! Thanks!!
