Things You'll Need:
- Gift bag or basket
-
Step 1
Determine whether or not the person drinks. There's no point in giving wine or booze to someone who doesn't drink it. At worst, you could come off poorly if the recipient is in AA or a similar program, so find out ahead of time if he drinks.
-
Step 2
Consider the most appropriate type of alcohol. If the person loves wine tastings, then obviously wine would be a good choice. If they have a home bar or drink martinis, then gin, vodka or rum would be appropriate.
-
Step 3
Find something interesting. Buying a bottle of wine from a little known winery or selecting an usual flavor of vodka means a bit more than picking up something at the local supermarket. Look for local distilleries or wineries, or head to a specialty shop and ask what's new and unusual.
-
Step 4
Dress it up. Don't just hand them a paper bag with a bottle of Scotch in it. Place the bottle in a nice gift bag (they make them just for wine) or add a fancy ribbon or bow. Include a nice gift tag so they remember who it was from.
-
Step 5
Turn it into a package. Add a corkscrew or wine glass tags or perhaps a few martini glasses, a jar of olives and a bottle of gin. Or you could give them the ingredients for chocolate martinis and truffles.
