How to Clean Silver Earrings

There are many products out there promising to remove tarnish and make your silver earrings look like new. You do not have to spend large amounts of money to clean your silver earrings. This can be done with products that you already have around the house.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Glass baking dish
  • Aluminum foil
  • Hot tap water
  • Baking soda
  • Towel

Clean Silver Earrings

Step1
Get a small glass baking pan and line it with aluminum foil. Place the shiny side of the aluminum foil towards you.
Step2
Place your silver earrings directly on the aluminum foil. It is perfectly acceptable to clean more then one pair of earrings at a time if you wish.
Step3
Cover the earrings with the hottest tap water that you have available. You want to make sure that the earrings are completely covered with hot water.
Step4
Sprinkle your baking soda on top of the hot water until you see a chemical reaction begin to occur on your silver earrings.
Step5
Let the earrings set in the solution for a full hour.
Step6
Remove the earrings from the solution, rinse in plain water, and towel dry. Enjoy your sparkling earrings.

Tips & Warnings

  • This method works on silver earrings, necklaces, and silverware.
  • This method is best used on earrings that do not have jewels glued to them.
