How to Marry a Couple
-
1
Confirm that you have the necessary certification for the state that the wedding will take place in. If you are not legally authorized to perform weddings in the state, the wedding ceremony isn’t legally binding.
-
2
Before the ceremony, meet with the couple to discuss the details of the wedding and determine the vows. The couple may choose to write their own vows or a standard reading can be used. Have several variations of the vows so that the couple can select a version that they like.

At this time, you may wish to rehearse the ceremony to make sure everyone is aware of where to stand, how the ceremony will flow.
-
4
On the big day, arrive at the wedding location early and have the marriage license on hand. Confirm that the bride and groom have witnesses for the signing of the marriage license.
-
5
Officiate the wedding by performing the ceremony. This is where the bride and groom will relay their vows to each other. Simply guide the ceremony based on the details you previously discussed with the couple.
-
6
After the ceremony, sign the marriage certificate along with the witnesses and the bride and groom. It is your responsibility to mail the certificate to the proper state authorities.
