How to Build a Pen Gun
If you're looking for a little fun while you're bored, making a pen gun is one way to use up a little time. This is not the way to build a more sophisticated zip gun, which is highly illegal in most places. So build yourself the safe alternative that can give you and your friends something to do for a while. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need
- Scissors (the sharper/stronger, the better)
- Tape (Optional)
- Rubber Band (thicker works best)
- Pen
- Binder Clip

Building a Pen Gun

With the scissors (which should be strong enough to cut through the pen), cut the pen near the end (back of pen). You want to cut all the way through and throw away the end. Only cut off about a centimeter of the end.

Cut off the tip of the pen. You will notice that the pen gets wider as you move up from the tip. You want to cut the pen after the smaller part. Be careful not to actually cut through the pen (where the ink is held), just the tubing. Once you cut off this part, you should have a tube that has the same width for its whole length. The tip of the pen (metal part with the smaller ink tube) should be able to easily travel through the tube now.

Clip one end of the rubber band to one end of the tube with your binder clip. The closer to the end of the tube you clip the rubber band, the more powerful your pen gun will be. This is where a thicker rubber band helps, as you can get more power with a smaller chance of the band breaking.

Slide the pen (metal part with ink tube) into the larger tube. It should move freely. Pull back your rubber band and wrap it around the end of the ink tube (that's connected to the metal part). Pinch down on the rubber band and end of ink tube. Now pull the rubber band back, making sure to grip the ink tube tightly so as not to prematurely release. Aim and fire.

Tips & Warnings
Remember, the thicker your rubber band is, the less likely it is to break. It is also more powerful.
Do not shoot this directly at anyone. It will travel fast and may actually cause injury.
