Bruschetta is an elegant and fuss-free appetizer that can compliment any pasta dinner. It can also double as a side dish. Serve with a small, shallow bowl of olive oil sprinkled with capers for dipping. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 6 Roma tomatoes, diced
  • 2 tbsp. minced fresh garlic
  • 6 fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. each salt and pepper
  • 1 loaf French bread, sliced into 12 1-inch pieces

Instructions

      Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Slice French bread.

      Chop tomatoes and basil.

    • 3

      Combine olive oil, tomatoes, basil, garlic, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Let stand for 30 minutes.

      Toast bread slices and place on baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes or until browned on both sides. Turn once.

      Remove from oven and spoon tomato mixture over the bread. Serve immediately.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also use stoneware for baking the bread in the oven.

  • Watch bread carefully so it doesn't burn.
