How to Wear an Hermes Scarf

Scarves are one of the most versatile fashion accessories ever designed. Hermes has the longstanding and well-deserved reputation for manufacturing the best. Be it Jackie O or Madonna, the socially elite have long been seen swathing themselves in the luxurious silks produced by the house of Hermes. It’s been said that no self-respecting French woman will leave the house without one. So, you’ve finally spent $350 on the perfect Hermes scarf, but how do you wear it? Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

  1. Make it versatile

    • 1

Wear it to cover your hair. For the Audrey Hepburn look, fold the scarf into a triangle. Place the triangle flat on your head so that the two pointiest ends hang towards our shoulders and the triangle points behind you. Take the two pointy ends and twist them twice under your chin, pull them behind your neck and tie twice.

    • 2

Use it as a headband or head wrap.

    • 3

Wear it shawl-style by simply placing it over your shoulders.

    • 4

Make it into a bag. Gather all of your items into the center of the scarf and tie the two opposing ends together. Next tie the other two ends together overlapping the first knot and creating a loop. The second knot should be higher than the first. Through it over your shoulder.

    • 5

      Use it as a belt.

    • 6

Wrap it several times around your wrist or purse to accent an outfit.

    Wear it as a top

    • 7

Make a bikini top. Fold the ends in twice. Until you achieve a long sash shape. Wrap around back and tie a large bow in the front with loose ends.

    • 8

Create a halter top. Fold your scarf into a square and tie a knot in the middle. Place the knot at the nape of your neck and tie the loose ends around your neck to form the top of the halter. Wrap the triangle base around your torso and tie the loose ends at towards the middle / bottom of your back.

    • 9

Use it as a toga. Fold one corner over approximately 3/4 of the way into the length of the scarf. This diagonal portion of the scarf forms the toga. Tie the loose ends around one shoulder. Tie remaining two loose ends at the side of your waist.

Wear your scarf as a scarf!

    • 10

Create as ascot. Place scarf around your neck and flip one end over the other and tuck into your shirt.

    • 11

Wear it as a cravat. Lie flat a square scarf. Bring top and bottom ends to middle doing an envelope fold. Drape it over neck bringing one end over the other the over it (like you would tie a tie) then knot. Let it rest at the side or nape.

    • 12

Place it around your neck and simply let it hang.
