Things You'll Need
How To Always Keep Your House In Order
The very first thing that needs to be done in order to have an orderly house is to make sure everything has a home. What I mean by that is to have a place for everything in your home. Remember to return things that you have used back to its location when you are done using it. Teach the members of your family who live with you to do the same. Even if they do not return the items all the time, pick them up yourself; however after repeatedly advising them to do so they will get into the habit of doing it themselves. Be patient it takes time to develop new habits.
One thing that I have learned from raising a lot of kids is to get rid of things that are not being used. The less you have the less you have to pick up and put away. Actually my husband gave me that idea and I started to weed out things that the kids never played with. They never missed the stuff and my house looked neater. It was like a breath of fresh air.
So your kids are making messes anyway? Well, the way I look at it is this, they made the mess so they need to clean it up. At the end of the day I tell each of them to do a chore. One does the dishes, another takes the garbage out, one cleans up one room completely, while another folds and puts away clothes. That frees me up to do some deep cleaning or planning. Always try to delegate jobs to other family members. Remember if a person lives there they should contribute to the household in some way or fashion. No one has recreation unless their job or chore is done.
Doing things while waiting is another great idea in accomplishing all that you need to get done; while my little ones are in the tub and I need to keep an eye on them, I clean up the bathroom. While I am in the kitchen cooking I wash dishes or organize. Talking on the phone is another way of getting the dishes done fast. Whenever I get a non business call I clean or pick up things while walking around the house and talking on the phone. You can get so much done and socialize at the same time.
As much as we would love to have an absolutely sparkling clean house, let's face it most of us work and if we don't work we have children to take care of. While deep cleaning may happen only once a week or more, we can have an organized, picked up house everyday!
