What to do when your carpet gets wet from a big spill or a water leak

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A large fan
  • Towels
  1. Step 1

    If there is a leak, turn off the water main or where ever the water is leaking from.
    If it is a spill then place a towel on top of the spot and step on it.

  2. Step 2

    If it a large enough area or is near the edge of the carpet you can pull the carpet. (the carpet is only pushed down on top of a tack strip)

  3. Step 3

    Place the fan facing directly at the wet spot.

  4. Step 4

    Leave the fan on for 24 hours

  5. Step 5

    check to see if the carpet is dry

  6. Step 6

    pull the carpet as tight as you can then place it down on the tack strip

  7. Step 7

    you can use a mallet to pound it back down on the tack strip.

Tips & Warnings
  • This is not to use when you spill a glass of water
  • DO NOT POUND HARD WHEN USING THE MALLET, YOU DO NOT WANT TO BEND THE TACK STRIP NAILS
