Shrimp are a staple of cuisine the world over -- from shrimp kebabs, to shrimp jumbo, to shrimp creole. Eventually, some brilliant chef thought to combine the beloved flavor of shrimp with the delicious taste of coconut, with great success. And coconut shrimp, despite its scrumptiousness, is actually quite simple to prepare.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 pound of shrimp (peeled, deveined)
  • 12-16 ounces of coconut milk
  • 1-2 egg (whisked)
  • 1/2 cup of flour
  • 2 cups of flaked coconut
  • 3 cups of oil (canola, coconut, etc.)
  1. Step 1

Place your shrimp and coconut milk together in a bowl, and refrigerate overnight.

  2. Step 2

Dredge the shrimp in the flour, and shake off the excess. Repeat with the whisked eggs.

  3. Step 3

Roll your shrimp in the flaked coconut, and place on trays or wax paper. Refrigerate for at least 10 to 30 minutes, to let the coating set into place.

  4. Step 4

Fry shrimp in a deep-fryer for three or four minutes, or until golden brown.

  5. Step 5

Set the shrimp on paper towels or brown paper, to drain.

Tips & Warnings
  • Your oil should be at about 350 degrees Fahrenheit, so that your shrimp sizzles immediately.
