It's easy to feel exhausted in the summer heat. Rather than turning to cola for a midday jolt, try a healthy alternative. Matcha is a traditional green Japanese tea used in special ceremonies. The tea is highly regarded for its tremendous health benefits, its ability to provide a wonderful mental lift and its light and refreshing flavor. Make an iced matcha latte to beat the summer heat.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Start by carving out a few minutes for the ritual of making the iced matcha latte tea in a modified ceremonial way by incorporating meditation into the process of making the iced latte. The few minutes it takes to make the drink provides the perfect opportunity to focus on something simple to recharge your body and brain.
Step2
Mix a heaping teaspoon of the finely ground, bright green tea powder with a few teaspoons or so of water in a traditional Japanese serving bowl or other container. Make sure the container's opening is wide enough to allow a whisk to thoroughly mix the powder, removing any lumps that may remain. The mixture will be thick.
Step3
Add cold milk slowly to the cup, constantly whisking until the color begins to turn a creamy jade color. Any type of milk is suitable for an iced matcha latte, whole, 2 percent, skim and even flavored or unflavored soy milk.
Step4
Sweeten the latte after you add the milk. Add honey, unrefined sugar or flavored syrups to sweeten the drink.
Step5
Pour the mixture over ice in a glass and serve with a straw. Finish the meditation by enjoying the drink and allowing good energy to flow in with all of the goodness of the iced matcha latte tea.
