Traditionally thought to be a special occasion meal, honey roast chicken can be served any night of the week. With just a few key ingredients and a little bit of patience, you can have a delicious honey roast chicken any night you like.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 whole chicken (3-5 pounds)
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 cup of honey
  • Large shallow roasting pan
  • Spoon or baster
  • Pepper to taste
  • Salt or seasoning salt to taste
  • 1/8 cup brown sugar
Step1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Step2
Clean and dry chicken. Make sure you've removed any fat from the chicken.
Step3
Season all sides of chicken with salt and pepper and place in roasting pan.
Step4
Combine olive oil, honey and brown sugar in a bowl and stir well.
Step5
Pour mixture on top of chicken. Rub it in well, making sure to cover the entire chicken.
Step6
Place in oven and cook about 45 minutes. Make sure chicken is no longer pink on the inside.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't preheat the oven, heat it at 400 degrees.
  • Use brush to rub in honey to keep your hands clean.
  • Throughout roasting, rub excess honey mixture back on chicken.
  • Periodically check on dish and rub honey at the bottom of baking dish onto chicken to avoid drying out.
