How to Honey Roast Chicken

Traditionally thought to be a special occasion meal, honey roast chicken can be served any night of the week. With just a few key ingredients and a little bit of patience, you can have a delicious honey roast chicken any night you like.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 whole chicken (3-5 pounds)
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 cup of honey
  • Large shallow roasting pan
  • Spoon or baster
  • Pepper to taste
  • Salt or seasoning salt to taste
  • 1/8 cup brown sugar
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  • Clean and dry chicken. Make sure you've removed any fat from the chicken.

  • Season all sides of chicken with salt and pepper and place in roasting pan.

  • Combine olive oil, honey and brown sugar in a bowl and stir well.

  • Pour mixture on top of chicken. Rub it in well, making sure to cover the entire chicken.

  • Place in oven and cook about 45 minutes. Make sure chicken is no longer pink on the inside.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't preheat the oven, heat it at 400 degrees.
  • Use brush to rub in honey to keep your hands clean.
  • Throughout roasting, rub excess honey mixture back on chicken.
  • Periodically check on dish and rub honey at the bottom of baking dish onto chicken to avoid drying out.
