Do you spend hours washing your car only to rinse it off and get water spots? Learn how to turn hard water into soft water in eliminate hard water spotting.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 Gallon Bucket or Hose end sprayer
  • Borax
  • Water Hose
  1. Step 1

Use a mixture of about 1/2 cup Borax to 5 gallons of water and rinse your car. The Borax is a water softener and will eliminate hard water spotting. Works best with warm to hot water since the Borax is a powder. You may also mix in a 5 gallon bucket and rinse that way by making the mix and dumping the mix onto your car.

  2. Step 2
    Hose End Applicator
    Hose End Applicator

I use a hose end applicator and a garden hose, this will automatically mix for you

  3. Step 3

You could also siphon the mix out of a 5 gallon bucket using your pressure washer and the black chem tip.

Tips & Warnings
  • Mix using Warm Water
  • Borax is a powder and could clog the nozzle of your applicator if not well mixed.

on 4/5/2009 You should rinse as normal as this is not meant to be a complete rinsing solution just as a final step to prevent spotting. The Borax softens the water to eliminate spotting as the vehicle drys. If you are not using the hose end adapter or injecting into a pressure washer you will most likely need to double the amount of solution if not more. Also do really do the job right spend $10 and invest in a shammy and an extra 5 - 10 minutes to hand dry it.
