How to Remove Scorch Marks

If you were ironing while watching TV or your child needed something from you and you accidentally scorched the clothes, don't throw them out; you can try to remove the scorch marks.

Instructions

1. Soak an old, separate cloth in hydrogen peroxide. Place it over the scorch mark. Iron the two pieces of fabric with an iron set on low. Continue to do it until the scorch mark disappears or lightens.

2. Place the item in cold water if you notice the scorch marks immediately after they occur. Leave it in the cold water for at least 24 hours and then launder as you normally would.

3. Moisten a soft cloth with white vinegar. Rub it into the scorch mark and then rub a cloth soaked in cold water over the scorch mark. Continue until the scorch mark disappears or lightens. Some people will soak a cloth in white vinegar, place it over the scorch mark and then iron lightly over the scorch mark to remove it.

4. Put cold water over the area where the scorch mark is and liberally sprinkle cornstarch over the stain. Brush or vacuum the cornstarch off.

5. Try soaking white items in bleach to get rid of scorch mark.

Tips & Warnings

• These methods may not fully get rid of the scorch marks, though they should lighten them.
