How to Remove Sticky Price Tag Residue

You have just purchased something new and you have tried to remove the price tag. Unfortunately, those annoying price tags can occasionally cause a problem. Sometimes the tags don't come off completely and at other times, they leave a sticky residue behind. If you have a sticky residue on your new item, you can remove it if you know what to do.

        Apply Goo Gone to the sticky price tag residue according to the package directions. You can purchase this residue remover from grocery store, mass merchandisers or online.

        Rub the sticky price tag residue with rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol. Apply alcohol to a paper towel or napkin and rub the alcohol into the residue. Allow to dry and then remove the loosened residue with your fingers.

        Spray the sticky price tag residue with WD-40 and wipe off with a paper towel. The WD-40 will quickly loosen the sticky residue. Find WD-40 at mass merchandisers, grocery stores or online.

        Use lighter fluid to remove sticky price residue. Place a small amount of lighter fluid on a paper towel and rub the lighter fluid into the residue. Rinse off with water afterwards.

        Soak or rub the sticky price tag residue in baby oil. Either you can put the item with the sticky price tag residue in a bath of baby oil, or you can rub baby oil directly into the sticky price tag residue. The oil will loosen the sticky residue so you can easily remove it.

        Lift off the sticky price tag residue using tape. Take a piece of masking tape or duct tape and wrap it around several of your fingers on one hand. Press your tape wrapped fingers onto the sticky price tag residue and lift up. The sticky price tag residue will stick to the tape and remove it from the item.
