Slushies are ice-based drinks that combine fruit with juice and crushed ice. Try a strawberry slushy if you want refreshing icy-cold slushy that's easy to make.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • 5 Large ice cubes
  • 1 Cup strawberries
  • Juice
  • Fruit
  • Vanilla
  • Sugar or honey
  • Blender

Step1
Gather the items you need before you begin. Slushies should be made quickly so they don't melt.
Step2
Place the ice cubes or a cup full of crushed ice into a blender or magic bullet. Add the strawberries. You can use whole or chopped strawberries that are fresh or frozen.
Step3
Pour fruit juice into the blender. Try orange, peach, pear or berry juice for a combination fruit flavor.
Step4
Add just enough juice to cover the ice and the strawberries, but leave about 1 inch from the top so the drink has room to expand while blending.
Step5
Blend the drink until the ice is chopped into slush. You want it smooth but not liquefied. Add more juice if the drink looks too thick or the blender gets stuck. Add more ice or fruit if the slushy is too runny.
Step6
Put a tablespoon of sugar or honey in the drink if you want a sweeter drink. Add a teaspoon of vanilla for a milkshake taste. Add grenadine for color if you want deep pink slushies.
Step7
Combine other fruit like raspberry, pineapple, banana or kiwi with the strawberry to make strawberry combo slushies. Add an equal amount of each kind of fruit so you can taste more than just the strawberries.
