Frosting (vanilla, chocolate, you can even use green food coloring in the white frosting for green trees.
Small candies like gum drops, marshmallows, trix cereal, m&ms, skittles, anything that would be cute for ornaments or lights. Sprinkles are fun too.
Plastic knives or crafts sticks for young children to frost the cones.
Wax paper
Step1
Have the wax paper layed out, this will be for your trees to stand on for the frosting to harden. The frosting acts as a glue for the candy.

Choose your frosting flavor, if you want green frosting add 2 to 3 drops of green food coloring into white frosting. Put your pointer finger and middle finger up into the cone, this makes it easier to frost instead of holding it on the outside.

Spread evenly all around the cone till the outer part of the sugar cone disappears.
Step4
With the hand that is not in the sugar cone, use a pointer finger and thumb to take put the tree safely on the wax paper. This helps avoid getting too messy but it happens.
Step5
Now choose the candy you want to put on your tree and decorate it all over to resemble a Christmas tree.

Repeat the above steps to continue with more sugar cone trees!

This can be a very messy food activity, wear an apron, smock or clothing you don't mind getting frosting and food coloring on.
