How to Make a Detox Smoothie


Whether you've overindulged during the holiday season, ate and drank just a little too much on vacation, or you want to start a healthy new diet, drinking detox smoothies is a great way to jump start a deep cleanse. Detox foods help remove toxins from the system and revitalize your body’s cells. Blending together fresh fruits and vegetables packed with healthful vitamins helps re-set our digestive system and replenish our supply of nutrients.

Foods that contain detox characteristics include berries, dark leafy greens, root vegetables, citrus fruit, chilies, pomegranates, red cabbage, whole grains, and green tea.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, peeled and grated
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple, chopped
  • 1 handful baby spinach or kale
  • Pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1–2 cups ice cubes

Step 1: Gather Your Smoothie Ingredients

Making a detox smoothie is simple. Include ingredients that are hydrating, have anti-inflammatory qualities, contain a great deal of vitamins and minerals, and taste great in combination with one another.

Step 2: Add Ingredients to a Blender

Blending together spinach, pineapple, coconut water, fresh lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and ginger results in a vibrant superfood smoothie. This delicious tropical combination of flavors comes out tasting sweet and zesty with a little bite from the cayenne and ginger, and the texture turns out smooth and frothy.
