When a girl reaches her teen years, it's only natural for her to want to date. However, parents may not feel the same way. They may think you're too young to have a boyfriend and forbid you from going on any dates. In this case, you’ll have to convince your parents to allow a boyfriend.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Show your maturity level. Tell them you know they have reservations, but you are trustworthy. Promise them you won’t do anything stupid, like have unprotected sex.

  2. Step 2

Set up a meeting with the potential boyfriend. If they meet him and feel impressed with his behavior, then they may allow you to date. It also helps if you can have the guy bring his parents to discuss the situation with your parents.

  3. Step 3

Regain their trust. If you have made bad choices before with boys, you have to show your parents that you have learned from your mistakes. Go on group dates at first and allow your parents to chaperone if they ask to.

  4. Step 4

Follow their rules. If they say you can’t spend time alone with a boyfriend, then don’t. Their restrictions are meant to protect you and if you don’t follow their rules, they won’t allow you to have a boyfriend.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don’t throw a tantrum if your parents say you can’t have a boyfriend. You just prove that you’re too young to handle dating.
  • Don’t sneak around with a boyfriend. If you're caught, you may end up punished and not allowed to have a boyfriend until you're much older.

on 5/2/2008 Interesting..some parents are just plain stubborn though. I was never allowed to date no matter what I did. So I moved in with my boyfriend right after I graduated. Although we've been "together" for almost 2 years, I wish I had been better prepared for dealing with relationships.
