Recycled baby-food jars can be made into air fresheners that make great hostess or shower gifts.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ribbons
  • Baby Food Jars
  • Food Coloring
  • Fragrant Essential Oils
  • Stickers
  • 4 packages of Knox gelatin
  • 2 c. distilled water or 2 c. liquid potpourri
  1. Step 1

    Heat 1 c. water.

  2. Step 2

    Add four packages unflavored gelatin.

  3. Step 3

    Stir until dissolved.

  4. Step 4

Remove from heat and add 1 c. distilled water.

  5. Step 5

Add 10 to 20 drops of scented oil.

  6. Step 6

Add a few drops of food coloring (optional).

  7. Step 7

Let the mixture cool, then pour it into clean baby-food jars.

  8. Step 8

    Let gel set overnight.

  9. Step 9

Decorate jars with fabric, ribbon or stickers.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use premade liquid potpourri in place of the oil and food coloring. The steps will be the same except you'll replace the water with liquid potpourri.
  • To use gel air freshener, place on stove top (not on a burner) while cooking or in a potpourri burner.

on 7/13/2009 sounds great! can't I simply use normal flavored gelating since it's colored, in place of buying two things?
