How to Throw the Ultimate Bachelor Party

One last night on the town is most certainly in order for any man about to take the plunge into married life. Traditionally, it is up to the best man to throw the groom his bachelor party. However, you'll definitely want to enlist the help of all the groomsmen in order to throw the ultimate bachelor party, even if it's just to get them to chip in for the stripper. Of course, the ultimate bachelor party will be tailor-made to the tastes of the groom and his friends, so there are a few steps you'll want to follow to make sure things remain memorable in a good way for the groom's last night as a single man.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Decide on a guest list for your ultimate bachelor party. If you expect things to get a little rowdy or raunchy, you'll want to limit the guest list to those you know will keep their mouths shut and who won't get offended. Women aren't automatically off the list, especially if the groom has some close female friends. As long as they aren't there to snoop for the bride, all should be welcome.
Step2
Ask for everyone to chip in for all or some of the party elements. You can ask for cash contributions or have everyone bring an item so all the party needs are covered.
Step3
Settle on a venue. This will depend on the kind of things the groom enjoys. For example, if he's on a bowling league, maybe you'll want to take all the guys out for a night of late-night bowling with lots of beer. If he's the outdoorsy type, arrange for a weekend camping trip instead of a single big night. Bookish types will enjoy a night in with their closest friends.
Step4
Set the date for your ultimate bachelor party prior to the big wedding day. Traditionally, the bachelor party was held the night before the wedding, or sometime during that weekend, but most grooms are opting to have their last bashes well before the wedding to avoid the stress of two major events happening one right after the other. Holding it at least a week before the wedding will also prevent the groom and the groomsmen from showing up to the wedding with hangovers.
Step5
Provide lots of food and drinks. Nothing ruins a party more than running out of munchies, so make sure you have enough to go around and last all night. Go for lots of finger food instead of a fancy meal if the bachelor party will only last a few hours. If the festivities will be starting before dinner and going into the night, take everyone out for a good meal before the heavy partying begins so that no one will be drinking on an empty stomach. You could even have the event catered if the guest list is large enough to warrant the expense.
Step6
Arrange transportation or emergency accommodations for everyone. It's almost inevitable that there will be drinking going on when you throw your ultimate bachelor party, so be responsible and make sure everyone has either a ride home or a place to crash after the party.
Step7
Go all out and take a small group on a trip they'll never forget. If you've got the time and money, fly out to Vegas for the weekend, take a mini-cruise to an exotic location or just rent an RV or yacht to cruise around local areas for a day or two.

Tips & Warnings

  • Book a limo to run around town if you decide on a bar-hopping kind of bachelor party. Not only will this keep you traveling in style and turning heads everywhere you go, but it will also ensure that everyone has a safe ride home at the end of the night.
  • Call ahead of time and warn the staff of your arrival. Many places will waive the cover charge for bachelor parties or save you a seat down front. It also doesn't hurt to tip the staff when you first get there to help them tolerate any crazy behavior a little more than usual.
