Easter is coming, and there's nothing more fun than dyeing those Easter Eggs with the kids. This year try something a little different. When you buy the vinegar and the easter egg dying kit, pick up a pair of nylon knee socks or pantyhose. Then pick some interesting looking leaves from the garden with your kids. You might get a kick out of how to make these leaf patterns with the panty hose and start a new tradition.

How to Make Leaf Imprints on Easter Eggs

  1. Step 1

When buying your pantyhose, buy a small size, or use an old pair.

  2. Step 2

Cut off the pantyhose a little above the ankle. It should make a little boot that the egg can fit into.

  3. Step 3

    Put in your hard-boiled egg.

  4. Step 4

Reach into the stocking, and place your tiny leaf against the egg. Gently pull the stocking tight around the egg, being careful not to mangle your leaf. It should lie flat against the shell. Twist-tie your stocking tightly closed at the top of the egg.

  5. Step 5

Lower your egg into one of your Easter egg colors from your kit. Let it soak as long as you want. The longer it soaks, the darker the shade of color you will get.

  6. Step 6

Remove the stocking and allow it to dry for a few minutes. Carefully untie the stocking and remove the egg without disturbing the leaf. Peel away the leaf once it's out of the stocking.

  7. Step 7

There should be a beautiful white imprint made by your leaf on the egg shell, with the colorful egg all around it.

  8. Step 8

Experiment with different leaf designs and different colors. The more delicate the leaf, the more interesting the imprint.
