Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Figure out the tanning method you'll use. Tanning acceleration products can be designed for outdoor or indoor tanning, and a few are made to get a dark tan with either method.
Step2
Identify where you most need a tan. Tanning accelerators can be made for the face or the whole body.
Step3
Select a tanning accelerator that is lotion based to increase the level of tanning. Lotions will not dry out skin and absorb the light rays more easily.
Step4
Choose a tanning accelerator that is made specifically for dark complexions when possible. Read the labels to see if a skin tone is specified. When products do not specify dark complexions, choose those made for medium skin tones as a back-up option.
Step5
Refrain from using tanning accelerators that are designed to help people get a light tan, or that do not allow UVA or UVB rays through to the skin. Darker complexions require more light to hit you in order for you to tan.
