Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Select containers in different sizes to make your candy display more attractive, but consider sticking to 1 shape family to keep things looking composed and orgainized. Aim to have at least 8 to 10 different containers on the buffet table. You'll also want to have a tiered tray to show off chocolates.
Step2
Buy containers with wide mouths such as large vases or fishbowl-shaped vessels. At the Couronne Company website, for example, you'll find a wide variety of recycled-glass containers in all shapes and sizes, including cube-shaped and shallow round bowls (see Resources below).
Step3
Consider finding your containers at an antiques shop or even a flea market. This is a great way to introduce personality and a retro, "shabby chic" look to your display. You can find colored, engraved glassware from the early- to mid-twentieth century at relatively low prices. Check out Tias.com for current listings of vintage containers (see Resources below).
Step4
Buy dozens of small, colored bowls to display a wide variety of different candy types. If you lay out the bowls in a staggered grid across the table, you'll have an eye-catching field of color unified by the similar shapes and sizes of the containers. Pyrex bowls work well for this purpose--you can find them for sale online at sites like PyrexLove.com (see Resources below).
Step5
Visit specialized wedding websites, such as FGmarket.com, for a list of companies that sell containers such as vases, boxes and bowls designed for use at wedding receptions (see Resources below).
