Check out some of these creative ways to reuse empty prescription bottles and over-the-counter bottles. You may think twice before you throw them away from now on.

From Quick Guide: Recycle, Reduce, Reuse
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Empty cough syrup or other liquid suspensions bottles can be cleaned out once they are used up or expired. Wash them in hot soapy water and let dry. Make sure to get all the medication out. Then you could use them for several things:

    1. Peel off the labels, so that you know they are no longer medicine and then fill them with Soaps or Shampoos and use them as travel bottles. Make sure that you label them with a permanent marker so you know their contents.

    2. You can use them as travel-sized condiment containers for picnic lunches for things like ketchup or ranch dressing.

  2. Step 2

Regular-sized prescription bottles can be cleaned out in hot soapy water and then used for a couple of things:

    1. Keep quarters in your purse organized so that you are not searching for change if you ever need it. They are the perfect size and the cap screws on so they will not fall out.

    2. You can also use them to store bobby pins in your purse or your bathroom so that you do not have to dig for them when you need one.

  3. Step 3

Large prescription bottles are great to take with you on the go with kids.

    1. Fill one with a few crayons so that they can draw on the go.

    2. Have one for them to fill with special rocks, flowers or other treasures on a park day.
