Have you ever noticed that teen boys tend to avoid having parties? Many probably think they're too cool or too old to have a real birthday party. Still, as parents we want to help them have a memorable birthday. Here are some things you can do to throw your teen boy a birthday party.

Choose a location for your teen boy's party that does not seem like a little kid's birthday party. You can take them to see the latest action movie, or to a bowling alley, or to play splat ball. This will seem more like a fun outing than a "boring" party.

Invite 5 or 6 of their best buddies. Unlike girls' parties, where you have to worry about alienating someone by not inviting them, boys are rarely that sensitive. You can feel free to keep the crowd limited to 5 of 6 friends without a war breaking out at school about who was not invited.

After the activity, take your teen boy's party to a restaurant where the kids can socialize and unwind. A casual place that has buffet meals or video games and pizza would give them freedom to move about and joke around a bit without having to be on their very best behavior.

Let them come back to your home for a while to play video games, if possible. Have parents pick up their kids at your home where they can play video games until everyone has left. Teen boys are happiest when playing games together, so it makes sense to end the party with this favorite activity.
