How to Get Married in Times Square

If New York City is your destination of choice, then why not get married in Times Square. It's in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city and you could share your special day with thousands of strangers. Sure, people might not be too happy to dodge your precious ceremony, but it would definitely be a day not many would forget.

Instructions

    • 1

Drive to any town or city clerk's office to purchase your marriage license. This needs to be done at least 24 hours prior to the ceremony.

    • 2

Travel to Times Square via taxi or subway. Allow extra time if traveling by taxi. Consider a nighttime wedding when Times Square is brightly lit with neon lights.

    • 3

Select a member of the clergy or a public official to perform the nuptials. If you pass a minister or man of God on the street, ask him to marry you. If you are not this outgoing, ask a friend to get ordained on the Internet.

    • 4

Pick your favorite billboard, restaurant or souvenir shop to be married in front of once you arrive in Times Square. A few notable places include Toys 'R Us, M&M World, or the Ed Sullivan Theater.

    • 5

Ask a friend or kind person on the street to be a witness. This ensures the validity of your ceremony.

    • 6

Bring a boom box and CD with the Wedding March or other music. Have one of the witnesses hold the boom box or simply place it on the sidewalk (but keep a close eye on it). Turn the volume up high enough so you can hear the music over the honking horns.
