How to Make a Wine Corkboard

After the wine is gone, save the corks for a corkboard.

A corkboard made out of real wine corks is a quirky decorative item that is both useful and an easy way to show off some of your favorite wineries. While kits for such bulletin boards are available, they require you to supply the corks, so it’s just as easy to supply your own frame as well. The number of corks needed depends on the size of the corkboard you want to make.

Things You'll Need

• Picture frame and backing
• Corks
• Knife
• Glue gun

Instructions

1. Remove glass and matting from the frame. You only need the frame itself and the backing board. Attach backing board firmly to frame.

2. Arrange the corks loosely in the frame to make sure you have enough and that they fit snugly. The best way to arrange the corks is on their sides, two-by-two, with the writing facing out for display. Alternate between two corks running horizontally and two running vertically.

3. Cut corks as needed to make them fit without any gaps. Cut with a large, sharp knife.

4. Glue each cork down onto the backing board individually. Lift a cork from your arrangement, apply glue and replace into arrangement.

5. Let the glue dry and add more if needed.
