Many people are more accustomed to finding scorpions in their sleeping bags than on their dinner plate. In some countries like China, however, scorpions are an acceptable meal. Scorpions can actually be eaten whole as long as they're fried in oil, where the intense heat destroys their venom. But to eat them live requires a bit more preparation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Deposit the scorpions into a small bowl of water. The scorpions will be very displeased.

  2. Step 2

After the scorpions have finished their bath, remove and drop them into a vat of rice wine.

  3. Step 3

Wait approximately thirty seconds, as the rice wine makes the scorpions semi-comatose.

  4. Step 4

Retrieve the scorpions, and remove both the stinger and poison sac.

  5. Step 5

Eat the scorpions before they decide to wake up. They will taste a lot like raw shrimp.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the venom has not been completely removed, you may feel some numbness on the tongue.
