How to Make a Personal Library at Home
A personal library is a wonderful resource for any home. Creating a personal library gives you a central place to store, organize and display your books. Having a library in your home encourages learning and creates a dedicated space for reading and relaxation. Creating a home library can be very simple. Take an inventory of your books. From this you can work out the amount of shelf space you're going to need for your library.

Choose an area of your house to transform into the library. It will need to be an area with enough space for your bookshelves. Good lighting is also important, although direct sunlight will fade the books.

Place the bookshelves in your library. Fill them with books according to whatever system you prefer. You might want to separate fiction from non-fiction, organize by subjects or choose a system more specific to your collection.

Place furniture in your library. You will need at least one comfortable chair, as well as a table to rest books on. A desk is a good choice if you intend to take notes.

Light your library. Stand lamps will provide warm, even light, while a desk lamp is a good addition if you intend to have a desk.
