How to Create a Digital Birthday Presentation

A creative way to entertain birthday party guests is to display a digital birthday presentation celebrating the life of the birthday guest. Using PowerPoint software, the creativity knows no bounds! Add word balloons and funny comments to pictures to make guests laugh.

Things You'll Need

• Microsoft PowerPoint software
• Scanner (if not uploading pictures from a digital camera)
• Digital camera with photographs
• Laptop computer
• Projector and screen (optional)

Instructions

1. Review the photographs that will be included in the birthday presentation. Determine which ones need to be scanned and which ones can be uploaded from a camera or memory stick.

2. Upload digital pictures from a digital camera on to the computer hard drive. Plug the camera memory disk directly into computers that have a memory drive. Upload the desired pictures.

3. Scan old photographs or pictures that cannot be uploaded digitally using a scanner connected to the computer. Save the photos into a folder labeled with the birthday person's name.

4. Click on "Microsoft PowerPoint" on the computer to bring up the presentation software. Choose a template or background for the slides. Choose from Microsoft PowerPoint templates and backgrounds or create a unique one.

5. Create a title page that will be the introduction to the presentation. Experiment with using a baby picture, a funny or unusual picture of the birthday guest.

6. Select each picture and place them on the PowerPoint slides to create a slide show. Use photo editing tools to crop, resize or alter photos. Select the slide transition patterns for each slide and the amount of time to display each slide. Add music if desired.

7. Rehearse the slide show by playing the presentation from the beginning. Complete any editing that is needed. Burn the presentation to a CD as a backup. Display the presentation continuously on a laptop or display on a screen through a projector.

• Slide shows can also be made using "Movie Maker 2.0" software.
