Whether you live in the Louisville area or just visiting on vacation, there are many places you can eat at affordable prices. With over 2,500 restaurants within the city of Louisville, you're sure to find something to fit your budget.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Sample a buffet. Start at the Golden Targe Tearoom within the Executive West Hotel, which offers breakfast and lunch buffets and dinners that are comparable to most fine dining establishments, without the hefty price tag. Other local buffets include Asian Buffet, China Buffet and Hometown Buffet--a homestyle buffet consisting of over 100 different items including everyday favorites like baked chicken, macaroni and cheese, and homemade mashed potatoes. For an exclusive list of buffets in the Louisville area, log on to the Chowbaby website.
Step2
Savor Italian. Pesto's Italian Restaurant on south Fifth Street downtown includes Italian and Persian cuisines and an extensive wine list. Sbarro's consists of pizza, salads, pasta and signature entrees like Chicken Vesuvio and Chicken Portofino; and Rocky's Italian Grill has a variety of menu items, from appetizers to salads to pastas and pizzas at relatively cheap prices. Weeknight specials at Rocky's include Family Night (kid meals costing almost nothing), Wine Night (half price bottles of wine) and two-topping pizzas around $10 on Pizza Night.
Step3
Eat American. Genny's Diner serves massive burgers and deep-fried pickles. Mark's Feedstore Bar-B-Q serves tender, hickory-smoked barbecue in a barn; and B.C.'s Original Ranch House, just minutes away from Louisville, has burgers and banana splits among its fare.
Step4
Chow down and take it all in. Eat cheap in Ollie's Trolley and try some good 'ole burgers, hot dogs or seafood. Check out Mike Linnig's, on the waterfront of the Ohio River, where you can sit among a casual crowd in this picnic grove area and enjoy the view when the weather's good. Or, sample Lynn's Paradise, a kooky and colorful restaurant that serves its down-home food in a playful setting.

Tips & Warnings

  • Pack up a picnic lunch or dinner and take it with you. Louisville sits along the Ohio River and has numerous parks including Waterfront Park, where you can eat cheap and take in the beautiful scenery.
