Read on to learn how to organize a vegetarian or vegan potluck.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Meeting place
  • Invitations
  1. Step 1

Determine how many people you think will attend your potluck, and decide where you will have your meeting place. Will it be at your home or at a local convention center?

  2. Step 2

For the meeting place, consider a park for the summertime or rent a log cabin in the park during the wintertime. To cover the costs of the building or convention center, have a donation box at the potluck.

  3. Step 3

Try to send most of your invitations via email so you do not have to waste paper. Or call the people you are inviting and have them mark their calendars.

  4. Step 4

Do not forget to inform the people you are inviting about the guidelines: food must be vegetarian or vegan. If necessary, have place cards and pens at the potluck so people can write down the ingredients of their food dish for others to see.

  5. Step 5

Decide whether or not you will be providing the plates and utensils for the potluck. While using regular plates and utensils may be more environmentally-friendly, paper plates and plastic utensils may be more convenient. Or you can advise people in the invitation to bring their own plate and utensils.

  6. Step 6

Keep the environment relaxed. Do not plan to have anything elaborate like a presentation or video, otherwise, people might find it too planned and less of an open-ended event. Start with a short speech or prayer instead.

Tips & Warnings
  • Let people know how much fun you had and that you appreciated their contribution.
  • Make the potluck a monthly activity so your attendance goes up.
