Hanging Christmas decorations can be a lot of fun when you get other members of your church family together. With some snacks, Christmas music, and plenty of holiday cheer, your church will be looking beautiful for Christmas in no time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plenty of volunteers to help decorate
  • The minister and session's approval for the date of decoration
  • Some snacks for all of your hard workers
  • Potential holiday music to play while you are decorating
  1. Step 1

Speak with your minister about organizing a day for everybody to decorate the church. He will need to run it by the session first.

  2. Step 2

Run an announcement in the Sunday bulletins or in your monthly newsletter and ask for volunteers to help decorate the church.

  3. Step 3

Check out your church basement or attic to see what kind of Christmas decorations might already be available. Purchase new ones as needed.

  4. Step 4

Ask other members who are helping to bring snacks so that everybody can take some breaks in between decorating.

  5. Step 5

Offer to let the children help decorate their Sunday school area so that they can get in on the fun too.

  6. Step 6

Be sure to thank everybody for all of their hard work when you are finished. Perhaps give out mini gift bags with holiday snacks or other trinkets to show your token of appreciation.

on 11/20/2008 This is a really simple and good idea. It wasn't until the author mentioned getting the children involved that I thought that our Sunday School classrooms ought to be decorated by the children with a supervising adult. At our church, it's more of a work party, but, I think with her suggestion of playing Christmas music, that would change the atmosphere to one of festivity. Thank you for the ideas!
