A little-known gem of a cocktail, the Russian Bear is in danger of becoming completely extinct unless the new generation of drinkers can discover its delicious, stomach pleasing joys. Similar to its much more popular brother the White Russian, the Russian Bear is an odd-duck cocktail that deserves a more widespread following than it currently enjoys.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1/4 ounce creme de cacao
  • 1 1/2 ounce cream
  • Spoonful of powdered sugar to taste
  • Cocktail shaker and strainer
  • Cocktail glass
  • Ice
  1. Step 1

Add ice to your cocktail shaker, along with the following: 1 ounce vodka, 1/4 ounce creme de cacao, 1 1/2 ounces cream and a small spoonful of powdered sugar.

  2. Step 2

Mix everything up nicely with a good 6 to 10 count shake.

  3. Step 3

Finally, strain the liquid into a cocktail glass. There should be no ice in the cocktail glass. The drink is now ready to serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • Due to its low alcohol-content and its smooth consistency, the Russian Bear makes an excellent after-dinner drink.
  • Anytime you see the word "Russian" in a cocktail, you know there's going to be vodka in that drink.
  • The drink will be pretty sweet anyway with the creme de cacao, so use the powdered sugar sparingly. Remember, you can always add more sugar to the drink if there isn't enough, but you can't take it out if you've already added it.
