Cleaning the toilet bowl is one of those tasks that's easy to put off, but at some point, you know you have to do it. And if you're an advocate of the green movement, the thought of using caustic chemicals isn't exactly appealing. But it can actually be a simple chore and one you can do using eco-friendly products. Things You'll Need

  • 1 1/2 cups white vinegar
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • Toilet brush
  • 5 to 10 drops of tea tree essential oil (optional)

Instructions

    • 1

      Pour 1 cup of baking soda and 1/4 cup of salt into the water of the toilet bowl. Add five to 10 drops of tea tree essential oil for scent if desired.

      Pour 1 1/2 cups of vinegar slowly into the toilet bowl. If it foams up too much and looks like it may overflow, stop pouring briefly until the foam subsides a bit. Let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes.

      Scrub the whole toilet bowl with a brush and then flush.
