Chocolate gravy is something my mom would make us as a special breakfast treat. It is yummy on warm biscuits or mixed into oatmeal or grits. Try it on chocolate biscuits. It's not hard to make either. Read on to learn how to make chocolate gravy.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 tsps. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp. flour
  • 1 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • Sauce pan
  1. Step 1

    First, heat the butter in a sauce pan on low heat.

  2. Step 2

    Add to the butter the flour and the cocoa. Mix them until they become a paste.

  3. Step 3

    Slowly add the milk, mixing it in as you add.

  4. Step 4

    Add the sugar, mixing as you add.

  5. Step 5

    Keep mixing until the mixture starts to thicken, then let it cool slightly and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • This recipe makes two servings. To make more simply double the recipe.
  • You must keep mixing the gravy or it will stick to the pan or scorch.
